picatext App Reviews
Unbelievable!! Mighty App!
It’s incredible. Does its job so simply and elegantly. Huge Time saver. Such a reasonable price too,,,,
I’ve been looking for something like this for such a long time. Is it the best OCR in the world? Probably not. But it DEFINITELy gets the job done for $4. I’ve only been using it for about 20 minutes, and it’s already saved me twice as much time as that. I do a lot of screenshotting for QA purposes, and I’m SO tired of typing out everything I screenshot. This is exactly what I’ve needed for a long time!! Keep in mind, this doesn’t save a history at all, so you may need to download a clipboard manager or something like that. Great work, guys!
It would be great it if stopped crashing!
How do I get my money back? It doesn’t work. Crashes every time.
I use picatext in a script with keyboard maestro and mChapters to quickly create video chapters from powerpoint slides shown in my videos. This has improved my productivity time by atleast 99.999999%. No more pausing the video and typing the title of the chapter- it takes just seconds now!
Same as below. App crashes everytime I use it. I also tried to go to their support but they do not respond to any inquiries. Thanks a lot! You have my email if you want to make this right.
I’ve been using picatext for a month now, and I’d say it’s about 90% accurate. It doesn’t do too well with pixelated text, however. I frequently have to extract text from screenshots taken on a non-retina display device without any sort of anti-aliasing, and it often makes mistakes like reading v as y, and vice versa. It also makes less logical errors, like reading an M as |v|, and it’s completely useless if italics are involved. I think if the developers included some sort of logic algorithm that checked for simple OCR mistakes (like an automatic spell check that could be enabled/disabled), it could be a fantastic app. For instance, automatically change “leyels” to “levels” I also wish there was an option to automatically remove line breaks. Nonetheless, it still saves me time, so I give it a 3/5
Oh. Em. Gee. Oh MYYY. I have been trying (okay, not too hard, and not even every year) for more than 25 years to find OCR that worked at any price, and this does the job. For four bucks. On super-clear type, scanned at 600 ppi, I admit. But still. I am amazed, and I was primed to be underwhelmed. (Why should this day be different from all the other days, going back 27 years?) The state of the art is at long last acceptable.
There is no any problem with this app
Works as it should, saved me lot of time.
I’ve tried a lot of other OCR apps incluing PDF Pen Pro. None of them compair to the screenshot feature in this app. I just open images and PDFs in Preview and then I use Picatext to take a screenshot of the area that I need to convert to text. It’s very accurate and it saves me a ton of time. I read other reviews about the app crashing when you use it to open files. I haven’t tried to open files with it yet. But, I don’t need to. The screenshot feature is all I use. And it hasn’t crashed on me yet. Plus, you can’t been the price of this app. This app is worth every penny. Which is more than I can say for most of the other OCR apps I’ve paid for in the past.
Used pica text for scanning two days ago, worked OK. Tried scanning a photo today, not using picatext- all I get a page of tightly spaced vertical lines. And the line to the right of this review box? “If you need support, please visit picatex Support? It takes you to ther commerical wesite that extols their virtues but does not have support, troubleshooting or ANY contact information. I will return this is I can find a way.
